Bento XVI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinei Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 5 minutes, Adhemar Cearense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S.E. Bento XVI's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adhemar Cearense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arlindo Castro charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arlindo Castro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 7th match minute, S.E. Bento XVI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arlindo Castro to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute Claudinei Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Transito Lentoft saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Yuri Lira kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Durval Souto. That made the score 1-0 in the 15 minute of play. In the 18th minute Claudinei Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Transito Lentoft saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Durval Souto didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 22nd minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. After 30 minutes, Décio Bertassi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the S.E. Bento XVI and the Bandecones FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 30th match minute, S.E. Bento XVI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Décio Bertassi to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, S.E. Bento XVI's Durval Souto got control of the ball when Manuel Garrincha tried to sneak it across the goal line. Claudinei Alcântara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 34 minutes into the match, Bandecones FC's goal looked a bit too open when Víktor Veiga came free, but Transito Lentoft reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Adhemar Cearense fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored S.E. Bento XVI's protests and gave Adhemar Cearense a yellow card for diving instead. In the 41st minute, one of S.E. Bento XVI:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for S.E. Bento XVI. Yuri Lira shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Durval Souto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yuri Lira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Víktor Veiga to strike the kick off in the second half. Transito Lentoft made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Claudinei Alcântara sent off a good shot on target. If Víktor Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Víktor Veiga in the 56th minute of play forced Bandecones FC's goalkeeper Transito Lentoft to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Claudinei Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yuri Lira in the 59th minute of play forced S.E. Bento XVI's goalkeeper Durval Souto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 61 minutes into the match, Bandecones FC's goalkeeper Transito Lentoft had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Doni Figueiredo. Adhemar Cearense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Bandecones FC's Manuel Garrincha got a free kick in the 74th minute. 76 minutes into the game, Yuri Lira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Durval Souto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Bandecones FC's Yuri Lira got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Yuri Lira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Durval Souto having to interfere. Bandecones FC's Manuel Garrincha got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Yuri Lira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bandecones FC's Transito Lentoft played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adhemar Cearense in the 90th minute of play. If Víktor Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
