The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zé Paulo Rodrigues showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, C.A.São Simão's Dagoberto Freire got a free kick in the 21st minute. Daniel Fernandes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manoel Botelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Amauri Mineiro scored 0-1 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zé Paulo Rodrigues, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 35 minutes into the game, Manoel Botelho recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Daniel Fernandes. Manoel Botelho showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Zé Paulo Rodrigues made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugênio Paraíba in the 40th minute of play. A collision led to C.A.São Simão getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Anísio de Alcântara hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ademir Dias during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 43rd minute, Ademir Dias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Pageu's Wanderson Prata got a free kick in the 46th minute. If Diguinho Sena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 50th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Amauri Mineiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Zé Paulo Rodrigues showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amauri Mineiro in the 55th minute of the match. Amauri Mineiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 61st minute, Eugênio Paraíba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Pageu's Sidney Freitas got a free kick in the 65th minute. After 66 played minutes Pageu got a freekick which was hit by Sidney Freitas. The referee felt a red card was in order, 69 minutes into the game, when Lauro Meireles put in a rough tackle. In the 68th minute, one of Pageu:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pageu. Lino de Alcântara kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. If Diguinho Sena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Paulo Rodrigues made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Eugênio Paraíba sent off a good shot on target. If Manoel Botelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Eugênio Paraíba struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Zé Paulo Rodrigues didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pageu. 89 minutes into the match, Pageu's goal looked a bit too open when Manoel Botelho came free, but Daniel Fernandes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manoel Botelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel Fernandes having to interfere. In the 101st minute Diguinho Sena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Fernandes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
