Magno Ramalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adilson Senna having to interfere. Célio Paranaense kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. Júnior Costa hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Benjamim Freire showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Naldo Esteves in the 10th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Valdir Alves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pombos's supporters rose to their feet, but Valdir Alves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benjamim Freire breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edmílson Esteves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bruninho Berger hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. 0-1 became the score in the 19th minute when Magno Ramalho elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Adilson Senna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Magno Ramalho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Magno Ramalho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adilson Senna read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. After 29 minutes of play El Gallinero's Bruninho Berger was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 30 played minutes El Gallinero got a freekick which was hit by Bruninho Berger. Naldo Esteves might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benjamim Freire. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Naldo Esteves ran back to his position shaking his head. Edmílson Esteves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adilson Senna having to interfere. Marcinho Falcão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Adilson Senna tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcinho Falcão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Edmílson Esteves managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Gallinero's supporters rose to their feet, but Edmílson Esteves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adilson Senna breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Naldo Esteves made a kick off. Ricardo Falcão's late challenge caught a El Gallinero's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ricardo Falcão helped the player get up and apologised. In the 55th minute, Ricardo Falcão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 58 minutes into the game, Edmílson Esteves cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Adilson Senna was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Benjamim Freire came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Pombos's Valdir Alves. But to his dismay, Valdir Alves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Edmílson Esteves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adilson Senna read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. When Marcinho Falcão came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the El Gallinero fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcinho Falcão couldn't finish the play. Valdir Alves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamim Freire having to interfere. If Valdir Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in El Gallinero's zone, Naldo Esteves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benjamim Freire came out of the goal and Naldo Esteves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Naldo Esteves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind El Gallinero's goalkeeper Benjamim Freire, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Edmílson Esteves might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adilson Senna. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edmílson Esteves ran back to his position shaking his head. Adilson Senna made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Edmílson Esteves sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Magno Ramalho managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Gallinero's supporters rose to their feet, but Magno Ramalho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adilson Senna breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edmílson Esteves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Adilson Senna made a huge save. El Gallinero's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
