Spectators: 6650 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1650, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Luís Gustavo Catarinense made the kick off which started today's match. Juan Brasil showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cesinha Novaes in the 6th minute of the match. Juan Brasil took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Bittencourt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 8 played minutes Vargen got a freekick which was hit by Válter Sousa. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Bittencourt in the 14th minute of play forced Vargen's goalkeeper Juan Brasil to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Bittencourt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Mutambo booed when Vargen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Umberto Maia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mutambo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gilmar Gaspar in the 20th minute. Gilmar Gaspar made a great header on Mutambo's corner, it was just that Vargen's Juan Brasil managed to reach the ball for a save. Luís Gustavo Catarinense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diego Oliveira having to interfere. In the 38th minute, Percival Donato got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sydney Prestes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Juan Brasil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 43rd minute Leonel Severo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Brasil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Leonel Severo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leonel Severo made a kick off. After some careless play in the Mutambo defense, Diego Marques kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Diego Oliveira. The Mutambo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Diego Oliveira should have stopped the shot. Luís Gustavo Catarinense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Cesinha Novaes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mutambo's supporters rose to their feet, but Cesinha Novaes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juan Brasil breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Mutambo booed when Vargen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Válter Sousa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 79th match minute, Mutambo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcus de Lima to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Mutambo's zone, Percival Donato stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diego Oliveira came out of the goal and Percival Donato tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. João Bittencourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 86 minutes into the match, Vargen's goal looked a bit too open when Leonel Severo came free, but Juan Brasil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If João Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Vargen getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. José Maria Fernandez hit a great ball. Mutambo's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
