With a couple of smart ball manuevers Reginaldo Araújo in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Flavinho Rossi saved Poço de Merda from getting behind. In the 28th match minute, Poço de Merda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Orlando Pimenta to maneuver through the defense. Poço de Merda's Flavinho Rossi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reginaldo Araújo in the 33rd minute of play. Erik Mazza hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Usina da Tijuca F.C.'s Ramiro Mendonça got a free kick in the 44th minute.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Reginaldo Araújo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute of the match Poço de Merda got a corner. Usina da Tijuca F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Zé Paulo Nunes ran over to the corner to take the kick. After a defensive mix-up in Poço de Merda's zone, Reginaldo Araújo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flavinho Rossi came out of the goal and Reginaldo Araújo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 64 minutes had been played when some careless play by Poço de Merda's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Emílio de Amaral was slow to take the kick. During this time Usina da Tijuca F.C.'s players had a chance to rest. Usina da Tijuca F.C.'s Emílio de Amaral was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Flavinho Rossi in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The supporters of Poço de Merda booed when Usina da Tijuca F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erik Mazza didn't get a good kick on the ball. 70 minutes into the match, Usina da Tijuca F.C.'s Telmo de Andrade sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Flavinho Rossi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Danilo Severo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvinho Amorim, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Flavinho Rossi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reginaldo Araújo in the 82nd minute of play. Telmo de Andrade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 85 minutes into the match, Poço de Merda's goal looked a bit too open when Reginaldo Araújo came free, but Flavinho Rossi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Usina da Tijuca F.C. fans' excitement grew in the 87th match minute when Usina da Tijuca F.C.'s Telmo de Andrade looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Silvinho Amorim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 96th minute, Reginaldo Araújo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Flavinho Rossi was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. There was no doubt that Usina da Tijuca F.C. were the better team. Usina da Tijuca F.C.'s players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
