After a defensive mix-up in Cfo Flamengo's zone, Marcos Simão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilberto Lopes came out of the goal and Marcos Simão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcos Simão in the 34th minute of play forced Cfo Flamengo's goalkeeper Gilberto Lopes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gilberto Lopes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Proença, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Malagutti Uai Soccer were furious when Enio Martins was red carded, 45 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 45 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Malagutti Uai Soccer! Paulo José Berger had in the 48thth minute some difficulties stopping Jonas Perez's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pedrão Simões stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gilberto Lopes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcos Simão in the 56th minute. Malagutti Uai Soccer's Paulo José Berger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedrão Simões in the 57th minute of play. After 58 minutes, Leonel Toscano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Malagutti Uai Soccer and the Cfo Flamengo players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Malagutti Uai Soccer getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Leonel Toscano hit a great ball. Pedrão Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Paulo José Berger came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Cfo Flamengo's Pedrão Simões. But to his dismay, Pedrão Simões quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. For all the effort they put into the match, the Malagutti Uai Soccer players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Cfo Flamengo.
