In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Malagutti Uai Soccer's goalkeeper Paulo José Berger, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Gravatahy SS booed when Malagutti Uai Soccer was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Célio Teixeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 12 minutes of play, Gravatahy SS's João Secco made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Paulo José Berger was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 16 played minutes Gravatahy SS got a freekick which was hit by Gilmar Custódio. Miguel Souza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcos Simão in the 20th minute of play. When João Secco came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Gravatahy SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Secco couldn't finish the play. João Secco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rogério Tande received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Paulo José Berger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcos Simão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 32nd match minute, Gravatahy SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilmar Custódio to maneuver through the defense. Miguel Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Proença, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Gravatahy SS's Miguel Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcos Simão in the 37th minute of play. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Gravatahy SS's goalkeeper Miguel Souza, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

An unexpected shot in the 54th minute by Alfredo Proença got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Gravatahy SS's defense didn't have a chance, in the 83rd minute, when Alfredo Proença scored to the left of an out of position Miguel Souza, making the score, 1-1. Paulo José Berger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Secco in the 93rd minute of play. In the 97th minute Marcos Simão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Souza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Malagutti Uai Soccer eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
