Orienta SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adelino Araújo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. José Custódio charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Custódio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. José Custódio hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. After 42 minutes of play, Gravatahy SS's Rogério Tande made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Abel Tróia was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpected shot in the 46th minute by Adelino Araújo got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side.

When the match had gone on for 50 minutes, Rogério Tande took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Abel Tróia to make any attempt to save it. Miguel Souza was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Rogério Tande fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abel Tróia having to interfere. When Adelino Araújo came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Orienta SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adelino Araújo couldn't finish the play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
