If Luiz Fabiano Velloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Guga Novaes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elivélton Esteves in the 16th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Luiz Fabiano Velloso managed to get in a good position for a shot. São Paulo's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Fabiano Velloso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guga Novaes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 20 minutes into the match, São Paulo's Elivélton Esteves sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Guga Novaes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. São Paulo's Wesley Koehler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabiano Paraense in the 32nd minute of play. Jeremias Martins could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Wesley Koehler made a huge save. Guga Novaes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elivélton Esteves, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabiano Paraense made a kick off. Super Campeões's Guga Novaes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Fabiano Velloso in the 78th minute of play. 81 minutes into the game, Elivélton Esteves recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Guga Novaes. Elivélton Esteves showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. If Elivélton Esteves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 86 minutes, Albertinho Paiva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. São Paulo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Albertinho Paiva was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Super Campeões defense, Enrique Pena kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guga Novaes. The Super Campeões fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guga Novaes should have stopped the shot. When Danilo Vergílio fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Super Campeões's protests and gave Danilo Vergílio a yellow card for diving instead. In the 94th match minute, Super Campeões was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danilo Vergílio to maneuver through the defense. In the 95th minute, Arnaldo Paes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. São Paulo played a much better game than Super Campeões and deserved their victory. The Super Campeões players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
