In the 2nd minute, Emílio Almeida hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcinho Rossi made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Percival Cunha sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 7 minutes, Paulo José Mello managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Red Crabs FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo José Mello was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 20th minute, Red Crabs FC's Evandro Lopes seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Evandro Lopes the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Red Crabs FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Evandro Lopes had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Marcinho Rossi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Percival Cunha went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Geraldo Ferraz scored 1-1 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Edmílson Negri, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Percival Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcinho Rossi having to interfere. After having played for 40 minutes, Jeferson de Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Firmiano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jeferson de Salles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Percival Cunha struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Marcinho Rossi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Red Crabs FC. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Geraldo Ferraz to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Firmiano's zone, Percival Cunha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcinho Rossi came out of the goal and Percival Cunha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 61st minute Jeferson de Salles suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. In the 66th match minute, Firmiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eurico Vianna to maneuver through the defense. Alberto Tróia struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Edmílson Negri didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Firmiano. After 76 minutes, Enrique de Sena mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Red Crabs FC and the Firmiano players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Red Crabs FC getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Enrique de Sena hit a great ball. 77 minutes into the match, Red Crabs FC's goal looked a bit too open when Geraldo Ferraz came free, but Edmílson Negri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Geraldo Ferraz came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Firmiano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Geraldo Ferraz couldn't finish the play. When Enrique de Sena was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 82 minutes had been played. The supporters of Firmiano booed when Red Crabs FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enrique de Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. Silvério Toledo kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Geraldo Ferraz charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Geraldo Ferraz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 95th minute Fred Bezerra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcinho Rossi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
