Perivaldo Terra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Laerte dos Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ademar de Mendonça was extremely unlucky when he, in the 8th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilson Eger in the 14th minute of play forced Espinheiro SC's goalkeeper Tony Dracena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Espinheiro SC's Tony Dracena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Baiano in the 19th minute of play. A collision led to Espinheiro SC getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Beto Soeiro hit a great ball. Tony Dracena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wágner Machado in the 23rd minute of the match. After 29 minutes, Tomé Leme mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vicentado SS and the Espinheiro SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 29 played minutes Vicentado SS got a freekick which was hit by Tomé Leme. Tony Dracena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wágner Machado in the 30th minute of play. After 35 minutes of play, Vicentado SS's Wilson Eger made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tony Dracena was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Espinheiro SC booed when Vicentado SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilson Eger didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 43rd minute, Alex Baiano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tony Dracena was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After some careless play in the Espinheiro SC defense, Alex Baiano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tony Dracena. The Espinheiro SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tony Dracena should have stopped the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Ademar de Mendonça might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Laerte dos Santos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ademar de Mendonça ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Espinheiro SC booed when Vicentado SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wágner Machado didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 63rd match minute, Espinheiro SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mateus Pinho to maneuver through the defense. 64 minutes into the match, Espinheiro SC's goalkeeper Tony Dracena had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wágner Machado. Tony Dracena made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wágner Machado in the 73rd minute. In the 74th minute Ademar de Mendonça shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laerte dos Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Espinheiro SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tony Dracena should have stopped the shot. If Ademar de Mendonça had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the final whistle went the supporters of Vicentado SS were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Espinheiro SC side.
