Magno Quadros hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. When Edu Costa fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Libanesa's protests and gave Edu Costa a yellow card for diving instead. After 11 played minutes Libanesa got a freekick which was hit by Edu Costa. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kiko Simão got free with Vitório Quintal in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 15th minute, Luciano Quirino left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Academia Palestrina fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 20th minute, one of Libanesa:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Libanesa. Libanesa:s Alfredinho Cardozo showed great skill when he stopped Vitório Torres:s penalty. In the 23rd minute Academia Palestrina were awarded a corner. Vitório Torres went to the cornerflag to take it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albertinho Monteiro in the 26th minute of play forced Libanesa's goalkeeper Alfredinho Cardozo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frederico Pena was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 33rd minute. Libanesa's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Vitório Quintal came out of the goal and Kiko Simão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Academia Palestrina's Vitório Quintal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frederico Pena in the 46th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After a rather tough play, Academia Palestrina's Wesley Carneiro got a free kick in the 58th minute. Vitório Quintal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frederico Pena in the 67th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Libanesa's Rodriguinho Pitta got a free kick in the 71st minute. Kiko Simão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vitório Quintal having to interfere. Alfredinho Cardozo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luciano Quirino, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Albertinho Monteiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredinho Cardozo having to interfere. Luciano Quirino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alfredinho Cardozo having to make a save. After 90 minutes, Matheus Lima mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Libanesa and the Academia Palestrina players grew even worse after the yellow card.
