In the 25th minute, Germano Pombal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 30 minutes, Hudson Netto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Geolandia and the Sassafraz players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Geolandia getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Hudson Netto hit a great ball. Sassafraz's Elias Quintal got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 45 minutes, Conrado de Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sassafraz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Conrado de Amaral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elias Quintal in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Enrique Salles saved Geolandia from getting behind. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Elias Quintal to make the kick off. Enrique Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elias Quintal in the 67th minute of play. After 74 played minutes Geolandia got a freekick which was hit by Mathias Pernambucano. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Geolandia's goalkeeper Enrique Salles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elias Quintal in the 78th minute of play forced Geolandia's goalkeeper Enrique Salles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
