He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cotton Futebol Clube reached it. If Rony Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Sérgio Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rony Andrade in the 20th minute of play. Augusto Arósio kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Kaká Guedes charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kaká Guedes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Cotton Futebol Clube booed when Santa Luzia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kaká Guedes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Cotton Futebol Clube's Edinho Vieira got a free kick in the 45th minute. After the first half Santa Luzia were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rony Andrade to strike the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the game, Kléberson Alagoano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Santa Luzia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cotton Futebol Clube the free kick. In the 57th minute of the match Zé Roberto Fernandes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rafinha Dante showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Sérgio Azevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Matheus Hermes in the 61st minute. With a little luck, Cotton Futebol Clube's Sérgio Azevedo got control of the ball when Matheus Hermes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rony Andrade recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Matheus Hermes's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 69thth minute, Sérgio Azevedo skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 72nd minute, Matheus Hermes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Santa Luzia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. If Matheus Hermes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rony Andrade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sérgio Azevedo having to interfere. Matheus Hermes scored 0-3 in the 81st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sérgio Azevedo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Rony Andrade managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santa Luzia's supporters rose to their feet, but Rony Andrade was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sérgio Azevedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Matheus Hermes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
