Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If José Pedro Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th match minute, Geral Grêmio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silas Paiva to maneuver through the defense. José Pedro Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Giovani Alves got free with Silvinho Santana in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The CAPE TOWN MZC fans' excitement grew in the 27th match minute when CAPE TOWN MZC's Ernesto Miranda looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 32nd minute, Douglas Jacinto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 34th play minutes Giovani Alves shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Silvinho Santana and just under the crossbar into goal. Chiquinho Paes came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by CAPE TOWN MZC's Ernesto Miranda. But to his dismay, Ernesto Miranda quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. In the 45thth minute of the game Giovani Alves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CAPE TOWN MZC's Silvinho Santana was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Pedro Santos in the 47th minute of play forced CAPE TOWN MZC's goalkeeper Silvinho Santana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Pedro Santos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Geral Grêmio's Giovani Alves got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 58 minutes into the match, Geral Grêmio's goalkeeper Chiquinho Paes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ernesto Miranda. If José Pedro Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silvinho Santana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giovani Alves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 64 minutes into the match, Geral Grêmio's goalkeeper Chiquinho Paes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ernesto Miranda. In the 74th minute, Ernesto Miranda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Chiquinho Paes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tostão Ramos, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. After 77 played minutes Geral Grêmio got a freekick which was hit by Silvinho da Silva. If Ernesto Miranda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Silvinho Santana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Pedro Santos in the 81st minute of play. In the 89th minute, Ernesto Miranda fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Chiquinho Paes, passed just outside the right post. If Douglas Jacinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Pedro Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. José Pedro Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Silvinho Santana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched CAPE TOWN MZC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
