Dorival Pinheiro's late challenge caught a I.M.L's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agostinho Barreto in the 27th minute of play forced I.M.L's goalkeeper Sidnei Ferraz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manfredo Barreto charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Manfredo Barreto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. With his leg Allan Marinho managed to avoid a goal in the 29thth minute, when I.M.L's Anderson de Moraes fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After some careless play in the I.M.L defense, Agostinho Barreto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sidnei Ferraz. The I.M.L fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sidnei Ferraz should have stopped the shot. After 43 minutes, Luís Fábio Vander mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the I.M.L and the Laranjeiras FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Luís Fábio Vander kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. When Laranjeiras FC's Baltazar Esteves in the 91st minute got a chance for a shot 91st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. I.M.L had won after a very even match.
