Spectators: 7197 (Terracing: 5399, Seating: 1655, VIP seats: 143) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Oscar Cruz during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of C.A. Catarinense booed when Quintino was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oscar Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 80thth minute of the game Osmar Duarte who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Quintino's João Augusto Velloso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
