Caripi AD's Egídio Barreto got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luisinho Correia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilson de Mendonça in the 17th minute of play. 20 minutes into the game, Mazinho Matorin threw the ball into play from the sideline. Cosenza Calcio's Toninho Pernambucano quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Rodriguinho Salles might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over 沈德誉. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rodriguinho Salles ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Ademir Ferreira took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for 沈德誉 to make any attempt to save it. An unexpected shot in the 32nd minute by Rodriguinho Salles got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 35 minutes into the match, Caripi AD's goal looked a bit too open when Olavo Novaes came free, but 沈德誉 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Caripi AD defense, Olavo Novaes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of 沈德誉. The Caripi AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that 沈德誉 should have stopped the shot. Rodriguinho Salles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 沈德誉 having to interfere. Caripi AD's 沈德誉 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ademir Ferreira in the 44th minute of play. In the 45th match minute, Caripi AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldão Custódio to maneuver through the defense. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Egídio Barreto made the kick off in the second half. In the 62nd match minute, Cosenza Calcio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Natã Galvão to maneuver through the defense. In the 69th minute, Natã Galvão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 73rd minute Egídio Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luisinho Correia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 沈德誉 stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ademir Ferreira's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Caripi AD's zone, Rodriguinho Salles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. 沈德誉 came out of the goal and Rodriguinho Salles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 83rd minute, Ademir Ferreira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. 沈德誉 was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. In the 88th minute, Rodriguinho Salles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 沈德誉 came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Cosenza Calcio's Ademir Ferreira. But to his dismay, Ademir Ferreira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. Ademir Ferreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 沈德誉 having to interfere.
