The audience was convinced that Jorginho Miranda's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Igor Araújo was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. The referee gave Fortaleza EC a penalty, 23 minutes into the game. Igor Araújo came out of the goal and Guilherme Domingues tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fortaleza EC's Jorginho Miranda got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Guilherme Domingues sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nacional Futebol Clube's attack was well implemented in the 78th minute, but when Luís Guilherme Azevedo was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. When Guilherme Domingues came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Fortaleza EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Guilherme Domingues couldn't finish the play. The Nacional Futebol Clube fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Fortaleza EC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
