The audience thought a goal was coming when Rodrigo Maciel got free with Alberto Vidal in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Faca na Caveira FC's Alberto Vidal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Faca na Caveira FC from getting a goal against them. Alberto Vidal made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Rodrigo Maciel sent off a good shot on target. 32 minutes into the game, Oswaldo Valladares recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Alberto Vidal. Oswaldo Valladares showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Alberto Vidal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oswaldo Valladares in the 37th minute of play. In the 38th minute, Caetano Eger made a precise shot to the right of Zé Roberto Dantas. Fortaleza EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jorginho Miranda stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Faca na Caveira FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Remo Gonçalves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zé Roberto Dantas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 90 minutes, Caetano Eger managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
