BARCELONA F.C's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Delfim Sergipano ran over to the corner to take the kick. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pedro Nogueira to make the kick off. Josué Saldanha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jardel Machado in the 54th minute. Josué Saldanha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hélio Lima, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. If Jardel Machado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
