The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 3rd minute of the game. One of Goiabal AD:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Pinto EC:s goal. The referee gave Pinto EC a penalty, 6 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Fabiano Velloso, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Goiabal AD's Abelardo do Nascimento. 0-1. After some careless play in the Goiabal AD defense, Laerte Antunes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Abelardo do Nascimento. The Goiabal AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Abelardo do Nascimento should have stopped the shot. 17 minutes into the match, Pinto EC's goalkeeper Claudinei Gaúcho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Murillo Sabóia. Patrick Recife's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Abelardo do Nascimento read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Laerte Antunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abelardo do Nascimento having to interfere. In the 25th minute, Laerte Antunes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wilson Guedes hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Abelardo do Nascimento came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Pinto EC's Laerte Antunes. But to his dismay, Laerte Antunes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. 35 minutes into the game, Laerte Antunes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-5. Abelardo do Nascimento was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Abelardo do Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laerte Antunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Patrick Recife during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 40 played minutes Pinto EC got a freekick which was hit by Patrick Recife. Matías de Carvalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinei Gaúcho having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Laerte Antunes to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Goiabal AD's goal looked a bit too open when Laerte Antunes came free, but Abelardo do Nascimento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A hard shot 53 in the game by Laerte Antunes from a close distance when the talented Abelardo do Nascimento managed to make a qualified save. Goiabal AD's players were relieved. Laerte Antunes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Abelardo do Nascimento having to make a save. Abelardo do Nascimento made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Patrick Recife sent off a good shot on target. Laerte Antunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abelardo do Nascimento having to interfere. In the 75th minute, Matías de Carvalho made a precise shot to the right of Claudinei Gaúcho. Pinto EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. With an all-out effort, Pinto EC's Abelardo do Nascimento threw himself towards the right post 79 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Laerte Antunes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Murillo Sabóia put it in 2-5 from a short distance just to the right of Claudinei Gaúcho. The crowd rose to their feet as Wilson Guedes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Abelardo do Nascimento. That made the score 2-6 in the 85 minute of play. When Delfim Amaral fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Goiabal AD's protests and gave Delfim Amaral a yellow card for diving instead. In the 89th minute, Delfim Amaral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Laerte Antunes in the 96th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Abelardo do Nascimento prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match was over Pinto EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Goiabal AD throughout the match.
