But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thiago Matorin couldn't finish the play. Mangalatiba's Tomás Pereira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Mangalatiba from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Mangalatiba's zone, Andrej Dúbravec stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tomás Pereira came out of the goal and Andrej Dúbravec tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ubanwa Saka could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Tomás Pereira made a huge save. Mangalatiba's defense didn't have a chance, in the 31st minute, when Andrej Dúbravec scored to the left of an out of position Tomás Pereira, making the score, 1-1. When Gilvan Ceresso came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Mangalatiba fans jumped to their feet. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ubanwa Saka was the one to do the kick off.
