After 12 played minutes, Tranqueira's Durval Guimarães shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nelsinho Lima came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Tranqueira reached it. Tomé Mattos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Vargas in the 17th minute of play. Joel Domingues was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 19th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Nelsinho Lima showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laércio Queirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 29th minute, Laércio Queirós got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciro Rosado in the 30th minute of play forced A Morte's goalkeeper Nelsinho Lima to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as A Morte's Baltazar Carneiro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Tomé Mattos. That made the score 1-0 after 33 minutes of play. After a defensive mix-up in A Morte's zone, Ciro Rosado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelsinho Lima came out of the goal and Ciro Rosado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Tomé Mattos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Vargas, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Zézinho Vianna struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Nelsinho Lima didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tranqueira. In the 58th minute, Laércio Queirós left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tranqueira fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After 64 played minutes, Tranqueira's Willian Nunes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nelsinho Lima came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Miguel Vargas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tomé Mattos was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. 70 minutes into the game, Joel Meira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. A Morte's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tranqueira the free kick. Joel Domingues's late challenge caught a Tranqueira's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joel Domingues helped the player get up and apologised. Joel Domingues kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Ciro Rosado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Miguel Vargas struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Tomé Mattos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for A Morte. In the 89th minute of the match Willian Nunes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nelsinho Lima skillfully saved the ball. Ciro Rosado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelsinho Lima having to interfere. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
