After 17 minutes, Aloísio Favoretto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ama-gi and the A Morte players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Baltazar Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gonçalo Coutinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Vargas, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. The supporters of A Morte booed when Ama-gi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aloísio Favoretto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ama-gi's Gonçalo Coutinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Vargas in the 34th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Ama-gi's Aloísio Favoretto got a free kick in the 34th minute. After 40 played minutes A Morte got a freekick which was hit by Guga Toledo. Nelsinho Lima made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edmundo Veloso in the 45th minute. Nelsinho Lima made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reinaldo Teixeira in the 46th minute of play. After the first half A Morte were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Baltazar Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Gonçalo Coutinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A Morte's Nelsinho Lima played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reinaldo Teixeira in the 62nd minute of play. Guga Toledo charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Guga Toledo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, A Morte's Guga Toledo got a free kick in the 65th minute. After a defensive mix-up in A Morte's zone, Reinaldo Teixeira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelsinho Lima came out of the goal and Reinaldo Teixeira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edmundo Veloso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelsinho Lima having to interfere. Amílton Diniz kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in A Morte's zone, Reinaldo Teixeira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelsinho Lima came out of the goal and Reinaldo Teixeira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ama-gi's Edmundo Veloso got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 82 minutes into the game, Ama-gi's Reinaldo Teixeira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nelsinho Lima made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. 87 minutes in the game, Baltazar Carneiro fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Gonçalo Coutinho having to interfere. Gonçalo Coutinho was out of position in the 89 minute of play, and Miguel Vargas capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Miguel Vargas really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. When Baltazar Carneiro came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the A Morte fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Baltazar Carneiro couldn't finish the play. 94 minutes into the match, Miguel Vargas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gonçalo Coutinho, 1-3.
