Paulinho de Salles could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Chico Moraes made a huge save. Silvinho Proença charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Silvinho Proença the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 11th minute, Silvinho Proença hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 12 played minutes A.Z.Z FC got a freekick which was hit by Silvinho Proença. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Lauro Gaspar managed to get in a good position for a shot. flamengo's supporters rose to their feet, but Lauro Gaspar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chico Moraes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. José Mazza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lauro Gaspar struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Chico Moraes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for flamengo. Luisão Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. flamengo's Cesinha Negri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adriano do Valle in the 39th minute of play. In the 40th minute Lauro Gaspar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chico Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lauro Gaspar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Paulinho de Salles struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Chico Moraes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for flamengo. If Luisão Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luisão Alcântara was extremely unlucky when he, in the 55th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Cesinha Negri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adriano do Valle, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Paulinho de Salles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chico Moraes having to interfere. In the 69th minute, Paulinho de Salles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Lauro Gaspar came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the flamengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lauro Gaspar couldn't finish the play. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind A.Z.Z FC's goalkeeper Chico Moraes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Chico Moraes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lauro Gaspar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 82nd minute, Paulinho de Salles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Lauro Gaspar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Chico Moraes was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in A.Z.Z FC's zone, Paulinho de Salles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chico Moraes came out of the goal and Paulinho de Salles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Chico Moraes came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by flamengo's Lauro Gaspar. But to his dismay, Lauro Gaspar quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. The supporters of A.Z.Z FC booed when flamengo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco Tavares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adriano do Valle recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to flamengo getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Wiliam Barreto hit a great ball. In the 95th minute of the match A.Z.Z FC got a corner. flamengo's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Marcos Lopes ran over to the corner to take the kick. Marcos Lopes made a great header on A.Z.Z FC's corner, it was just that flamengo's Cesinha Negri managed to reach the ball for a save. flamengo's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
