To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Orlando Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 42 played minutes PapaXota got a freekick which was hit by Antônio Carlos Linares. Placa's Amadeu Gonçalves couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 46th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for PapaXota.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dalmo Sousa to make the kick off. Giovani Meira made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Rubens Viana sent off a good shot on target. Serafim Alvarenga charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After a rather tough play, Placa's Túlio Prestes got a free kick in the 70th minute. Thomás Vasconcelos was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 71st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orlando Teixeira in the 75th minute of play forced Placa's goalkeeper Giovani Meira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
