The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Fábio Linhares got free with Nuno da Rocha in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In a very dangerous position, a player in Bahia City fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 12th minute. Penalty! After having played for 27 minutes, Paulo Gonçalves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esmeraldas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo Gonçalves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 30 minutes into the match, Bahia City's goal looked a bit too open when Mateus Figueiredo came free, but Manoel Terra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 33rd minute of the match Kauan Damião shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Manoel Terra showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 36 minutes of play, Bahia City's Luís Eduardo Vaz made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nuno da Rocha was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpected shot in the 40th minute by Luís Eduardo Vaz got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When Caio Borges came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Bahia City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caio Borges couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Bahia City getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Benjamin Azevedo hit a great ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

After 50 played minutes Bahia City got a freekick which was hit by Luís Fábio Linhares. Luís Eduardo Vaz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nuno da Rocha having to interfere. Zé Eger kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. When Luís Eduardo Vaz came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Bahia City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís Eduardo Vaz couldn't finish the play. After 63 played minutes Esmeraldas got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Falcão. Nuno da Rocha came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by Bahia City's Luís Eduardo Vaz. But to his dismay, Luís Eduardo Vaz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. In the 68th minute, Zé Eger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 69 minutes into the game, Ronaldo Barros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bahia City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Esmeraldas the free kick. Ronaldo Barros kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Paulo Gonçalves received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Manoel Terra came out and tried to block the shot, but Paulo Gonçalves slotted it home off the left post making it 3-2 in the 73rd minute. Caio Borges fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nuno da Rocha having to interfere. Nuno da Rocha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benjamin Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. If Luís Eduardo Vaz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 84 minutes into the match, Esmeraldas's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Eduardo Vaz came free, but Nuno da Rocha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manoel Terra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Gonçalves, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute.
