Clóvis Barral made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 4thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but André Luís Dantas would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Luís Gustavo Araújo charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luís Gustavo Araújo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Grêmio Maringá getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Luís Gustavo Araújo hit a great ball. 11 minutes into the match, Grêmio Maringá's goalkeeper André Luís Dantas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Clóvis Barral. When Luís Gustavo Araújo was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 17 minutes had been played. In the 17th minute, Luís Gustavo Araújo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Santana FC booed when Grêmio Maringá was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo Félix didn't get a good kick on the ball. André Luís Dantas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Eduardo Leão in the 32nd minute. André Luís Dantas came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Santana FC's Clóvis Barral. But to his dismay, Clóvis Barral quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. In the 41st minute of the match Santana FC got a corner. Grêmio Maringá's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luiz Eduardo Leão ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Luiz Eduardo Leão got away a dangerous shot. Despite this André Luís Dantas quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. André Rezende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Luís Dantas having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The wind increased when Orlando Terra made the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, Grêmio Maringá's Orlando Terra sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hamílton Neiva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Orlando Terra got free with Hamílton Neiva in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 62nd minute Grêmio Maringá were awarded a corner. Deivid Donatello went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Deivid Donatello almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Santana FC's Hamílton Neiva did a great save. André Rezende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. André Rezende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Luís Dantas having to interfere. When Agnaldo Félix fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grêmio Maringá's protests and gave Agnaldo Félix a yellow card for diving instead. After 79 played minutes Grêmio Maringá got a freekick which was hit by Agnaldo Félix. If André Rezende had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Clóvis Barral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. André Luís Dantas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clóvis Barral in the 85th minute of play. Orlando Terra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Hamílton Neiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 92 minutes into the match, Grêmio Maringá's Orlando Terra sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hamílton Neiva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Agnaldo Félix might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hamílton Neiva. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Agnaldo Félix ran back to his position shaking his head. Santana FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Grêmio Maringá for a fine match.
