When Osmar Baiano fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mirary's protests and gave Osmar Baiano a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Mirary's Osmar Baiano got a free kick in the 15th minute. André Luís Miranda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Natanael Marquez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Diorama AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Natanael Marquez should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gildo Valladares in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Natanael Marquez saved Diorama AD from getting behind. When Mirary's André Luís Miranda in the 42nd minute got a chance for a shot 42nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Diorama AD's goalie prevented a goal. A hard shot 43 in the game by Mathias Brito from a close distance when the talented Natanael Marquez managed to make a qualified save. Diorama AD's players were relieved. Gildo Valladares who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 44thth minute tested the skills of Natanael Marquez when he managed to save the team from getting behind. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Cesinha Queirós made the kick off in the second half. Natanael Marquez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mathias Brito, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Mathias Brito recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mirary's supporters rose to their feet, but Mathias Brito was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Natanael Marquez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
