But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yan Freire couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Perez in the 10th minute of play forced KANDANGUS F.C's goalkeeper Tiago Gabriel Barreto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 11 minutes into the match, São Paulo Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Yan Freire came free, but João Adolfo Dracena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 13 minutes, Róbson Schmidt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. KANDANGUS F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Róbson Schmidt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Yan Freire recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Yan Freire fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Adolfo Dracena having to interfere. If Zé Pedro Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute, Clemente Madureira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of KANDANGUS F.C booed when São Paulo Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nildo Alvarenga didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Adolfo Dracena didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Róbson Schmidt went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. João Adolfo Dracena made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Róbson Schmidt sent off a good shot on target. After 35 minutes, Luís Eduardo Urbano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the São Paulo Futebol Clube and the KANDANGUS F.C players grew even worse after the yellow card. With a little luck, São Paulo Futebol Clube's João Adolfo Dracena got control of the ball when Róbson Schmidt tried to sneak it across the goal line. Juarês Ferreira kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. After 44 played minutes William Coutinho shot from long distance. At first the shot seemed to be simple for KANDANGUS F.C's Tiago Gabriel Barreto to catch but William Coutinho was lucky. It became 1-1 after the goalkeeper had been careless and dropped the ball into goal. A collision led to São Paulo Futebol Clube getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. William Coutinho hit a great ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The crowd rose to their feet as Zé Pedro Travassos kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tiago Gabriel Barreto. That made the score 1-2 in the 61 minute of play. João Adolfo Dracena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Róbson Schmidt in the 65th minute of play. After some careless play in the São Paulo Futebol Clube defense, Yan Freire kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of João Adolfo Dracena. The São Paulo Futebol Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that João Adolfo Dracena should have stopped the shot. After 82 played minutes São Paulo Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Nildo Alvarenga. If Róbson Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute, Róbson Schmidt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The KANDANGUS F.C fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. In the 98th minute, Zé Pedro Travassos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The KANDANGUS F.C fans cheered their team off the field, for while São Paulo Futebol Clube had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
