Clube Atlético Jalesense's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jarbas Carioca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. São José FC's Erik Meirelles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Luiz de Almeida in the 17th minute of play. Franklin Miranda kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Robinho Batista in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Evaristo Rocha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 24th minute, Téo de Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luiz de Almeida in the 32nd minute of play forced São José FC's goalkeeper Erik Meirelles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Robinho Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Clube Atlético Jalesense's Felippe da Mata got a free kick in the 36th minute. André Luiz de Almeida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Meirelles having to interfere. After 43 played minutes São José FC got a freekick which was hit by Diego Xavier. After 45 played minutes André Luiz de Almeida rounded São José FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luiz de Almeida in the 53rd minute of play forced São José FC's goalkeeper Erik Meirelles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 55 minutes into the match, São José FC's goal looked a bit too open when Felippe da Mata came free, but Erik Meirelles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Robinho Batista blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Evaristo Rocha having to make a save. Evaristo Rocha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robinho Batista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Robinho Batista's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Evaristo Rocha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. São José FC made a substitution. Dida da Costa replaced Robinho Batista. After 78 played minutes Clube Atlético Jalesense got a freekick which was hit by Rogério de Queiroz. São José FC's Dida da Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jarbas Carioca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evaristo Rocha having to interfere. If Vágner Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Clube Atlético Jalesense's zone, Jarbas Carioca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Evaristo Rocha came out of the goal and Jarbas Carioca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 88th play minutes Dida da Costa shot 1-3, a short shot which went by Evaristo Rocha and just under the crossbar into goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luiz de Almeida in the 93rd minute of play forced São José FC's goalkeeper Erik Meirelles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 94th minute André Luiz de Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik Meirelles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. São José FC played a much better game than Clube Atlético Jalesense and deserved their victory. The Clube Atlético Jalesense players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
