Carvalhos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maicon Neto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 30th minute, Nando Toledo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Carvalhos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Enio Tande in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Enio Bertassi saved Nacional from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Amauri Secco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carvalhos's supporters rose to their feet, but Amauri Secco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Enio Bertassi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Douglas Dante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 93 played minutes Nacional got a freekick which was hit by Doriva da Silva. Nando Toledo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Enio Bertassi having to make a save. The Nacional fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Carvalhos were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
