Carlos Alberto Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joélson Nunes in the 27th minute of play forced Nacional's goalkeeper Enio Bertassi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Humberto Nóbrega hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Joélson Nunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Enio Bertassi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Alberto Neves didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ulisses da Rocha went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Joélson Nunes to strike the kick off in the second half. If Ulisses da Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Alberto Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dorian Trancoso in the 56th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beto Zanette in the 57th minute of play forced Nacional's goalkeeper Enio Bertassi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Enio Bertassi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joélson Nunes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Doriva da Silva in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Alberto Neves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joélson Nunes in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Enio Bertassi saved Nacional from getting behind. Doriva da Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Alberto Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Doriva da Silva in the 78th minute of play. If Beto Zanette had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 94 minutes, Beto Zanette managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montana EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Beto Zanette was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Montana EC booed when Nacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Fábio Velloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elano Vale was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 97th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Nacional had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
