César Pernambucano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enio Bertassi having to interfere. With a little luck, Bage's Kristijonas Juozapavičius got control of the ball when Ulisses da Rocha tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 10th minute by Doriva da Silva got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. A hard shot 12 in the game by Ulisses da Rocha from a close distance when the talented Kristijonas Juozapavičius managed to make a qualified save. Bage's players were relieved. Bage's Gustavo Leão managed to work through Nacional's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Gustavo Leão dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Enio Bertassi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from César Pernambucano in the 28th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Ulisses da Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nacional's supporters rose to their feet, but Ulisses da Rocha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kristijonas Juozapavičius breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luiz Fábio Velloso's late challenge caught a Bage's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luiz Fábio Velloso helped the player get up and apologised. After 37 played minutes Nacional got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fábio Velloso. The Bage fans' excitement grew in the 42nd match minute when Bage's César Pernambucano looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Doriva da Silva was the one to do the kick off. Durval Gonçalves hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Nacional's zone, Gustavo Leão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enio Bertassi came out of the goal and Gustavo Leão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If César Pernambucano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kristijonas Juozapavičius showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulisses da Rocha, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as César Pernambucano kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Enio Bertassi. That made the score 1-2 in the 62 minute of play. After 66 played minutes Bage got a freekick which was hit by Gustavo Leão. Gustavo Leão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enio Bertassi having to interfere. After 70 played minutes Bage got a freekick which was hit by João Augusto Prestes. César Pernambucano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Enio Bertassi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 77 minutes into the match, Gustavo Leão notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Nacional's Enio Bertassi. Enio Bertassi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Doriva da Silva in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kristijonas Juozapavičius prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 86 minutes, Dorian Trancoso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nacional and the Bage players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Nacional getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Dorian Trancoso hit a great ball. 91 minutes into the match, Nacional's goalkeeper Enio Bertassi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustavo Leão. César Pernambucano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Enio Bertassi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bage's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
