The referee ignored Piedade's protests and gave Duarte Silveira a yellow card for diving instead. After 44 played minutes Piedade got a freekick which was hit by Duarte Silveira. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Décio Freitas struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Carlos Eduardo Marques didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Spp City. 60 minutes into the match, Piedade's goal looked a bit too open when Décio Freitas came free, but Carlos Eduardo Marques reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Richard Botelho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Piedade's Alan Quirino got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 70th minute, Spp City's Décio Freitas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Carlos Eduardo Marques. Carlos Eduardo Marques yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by José Maria Arantes during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. José Maria Arantes hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Richard Botelho struck a weak shot in the 77th minute.
