Spectators: 7197 (Terracing: 5399, Seating: 1655, VIP seats: 143) Capybara SS's Rafael de Lima started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pedro Augusto Toledo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aníbal Saldanha, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. When Edvaldo Souza fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Capybara SS's protests and gave Edvaldo Souza a yellow card for diving instead. Capybara SS's Pedro Augusto Toledo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aníbal Saldanha in the 10th minute of play. Pedro Augusto Toledo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronaldo Mattos in the 12th minute of the match. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 13th minute, but Luizinho Pontes got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Fluminense hanging dry this time. Ronaldo Mattos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aníbal Saldanha in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Augusto Toledo saved Capybara SS from getting behind. Alberto Vianna hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Ronaldo Mattos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Pedro Augusto Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aníbal Saldanha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luizinho Pontes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafael de Lima, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aníbal Saldanha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 37th minute Rafael de Lima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luizinho Pontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luizinho Pontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael de Lima, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Rafael de Lima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizinho Pontes having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dito Prado during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Dito Prado kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Edinho Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizinho Pontes having to interfere. After 47 played minutes Fluminense got a freekick which was hit by Jailson Corrêa.

Thomás Toledo charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Thomás Toledo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Fluminense fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 62nd minute. Penalty! Pedro Augusto Toledo was a little too slow when Ronaldo Mattos got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 69th minute. The score was now 1-1. Pedro Augusto Toledo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aníbal Saldanha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 81st match minute, Capybara SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Cosme to maneuver through the defense. Aníbal Saldanha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Pedro Augusto Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luizinho Pontes came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by Capybara SS's Rafael de Lima. But to his dismay, Rafael de Lima quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Edinho Santos struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Luizinho Pontes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Capybara SS. With a little luck, Capybara SS's Pedro Augusto Toledo got control of the ball when Ronaldo Mattos tried to sneak it across the goal line. Capybara SS's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
