Paulo Renato Araújo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 4th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Luiz Eduardo Chaves. Breja FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando de Queiroz in the 6th minute of play forced Embirizal SS's goalkeeper Ronaldinho de Mendonça to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Breja FC booed when Embirizal SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dito Eger didn't get a good kick on the ball. Breja FC's Toninho de Almeida got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ronaldinho de Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernando de Queiroz in the 11th minute of play. Donato Brito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Luiz Eduardo Chaves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16th minute Toninho de Almeida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldinho de Mendonça saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronaldinho de Mendonça came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Breja FC's Toninho de Almeida. But to his dismay, Toninho de Almeida quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fernando de Queiroz during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 29th match minute, Breja FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernando de Queiroz to maneuver through the defense. After 36 minutes, Donato Brito mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Embirizal SS and the Breja FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 36th minute, Donato Brito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Breja FC's Fernando de Queiroz got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45th minute, Donato Brito got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Toninho de Almeida was the one to do the kick off. Breja FC's Luiz Fábio Meirelles was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ronaldinho de Mendonça in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After having played for 63 minutes, Donato Brito managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Embirizal SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Donato Brito was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Chicão Batista blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luiz Eduardo Chaves having to make a save. The supporters of Breja FC booed when Embirizal SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Renato Araújo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Embirizal SS's defense didn't have a chance, in the 70th minute, when Toninho de Almeida scored to the left of an out of position Ronaldinho de Mendonça, making the score, 1-2. Ronaldinho de Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Toninho de Almeida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 77th minute Chicão Batista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Eduardo Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 77th minute, Marcinho Donato hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Chicão Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute.
