The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 8 minutes into the game, Téo Vaz recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Olívio Dias. Téo Vaz showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After some careless play in the Magarai defense, José Prata kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fiori de Moraes. The Magarai fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fiori de Moraes should have stopped the shot. If José Prata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Ativa Sport Club defense, Carlos Augusto Peres kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Olívio Dias. The Ativa Sport Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olívio Dias should have stopped the shot. Magarai's Fiori de Moraes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Prata in the 33rd minute of play. The supporters of Ativa Sport Club booed when Magarai was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antônio Loureiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fiori de Moraes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Prata, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Magarai's zone, Juan Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fiori de Moraes came out of the goal and Juan Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Olívio Dias was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jorge Sanches showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-2 in the 46 minute of play.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Téo Vaz to make the kick off. If José Prata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With his leg Fiori de Moraes managed to avoid a goal in the 63rdth minute, when Ativa Sport Club's José Prata fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 64th minute, José Prata got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fiori de Moraes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Prata, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ativa Sport Club's attentive Válter Bueno managed to snatch the ball when Christiano Aguiar made a throw-in in the 69th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Magarai's Jorge Sanches got a free kick in the 70th minute. José Prata sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Juan Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Juan Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fiori de Moraes having to interfere. Ativa Sport Club's Rodrigo Freitas shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 82nd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Fiori de Moraes but with some difficulty. Ativa Sport Club's Olívio Dias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Téo Vaz in the 90th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Téo Vaz in the 92nd minute of play forced Ativa Sport Club's goalkeeper Olívio Dias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 93rd minute, Antônio Loureiro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Magarai fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-4. Magarai succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ativa Sport Club had controlled the match.
