In the 3rd minute Adilson Batista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Renato Saraiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulo Renato Saraiva came out of the goal and Adilson Batista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benedito Mello in the 18th minute of play forced Gueto's goalkeeper Zhou Cheng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute Ian Pinheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zhou Cheng saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Adilson Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cássio Coelho during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 24th match minute, Duere was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cássio Coelho to maneuver through the defense. Gueto's Richard Palmeira got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Adilson Batista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Paulo Renato Saraiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adilson Batista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Renato Saraiva having to interfere. Adilson Batista blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paulo Renato Saraiva having to make a save. Paulo Renato Saraiva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adilson Batista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Richard Palmeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adilson Batista might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paulo Renato Saraiva. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Adilson Batista ran back to his position shaking his head. Richard Palmeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Renato Saraiva having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adilson Batista to make the kick off. Paulo Renato Saraiva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richard Palmeira, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After 58 played minutes Gueto got a freekick which was hit by Sílvio Luiz Brodel. The supporters of Gueto booed when Duere was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dadá França didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulo Renato Saraiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adilson Batista in the 68th minute of play. Richard Palmeira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Ian Pinheiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Adilson Batista managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gueto's supporters rose to their feet, but Adilson Batista was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulo Renato Saraiva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Adilson Batista's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paulo Renato Saraiva read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. Adilson Batista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zhou Cheng acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 94th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Jefferson Félix. Despite being the better team, Gueto failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
