Valério Pinheiro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 27 minutes into the match, C.F. Minas Gerais's goal looked a bit too open when Décio Vinhas came free, but Válbson Velloso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Hermínio da Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Celsinho da Cunha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Válbson Velloso made a huge save. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Décio Vinhas to make the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Osvaldinho Machado during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 63 played minutes C.F. Minas Gerais got a freekick which was hit by Osvaldinho Machado. In the 91st minute of the match Mário Borges sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Válbson Velloso skillfully saved the ball. In the 94th match minute, Tubarão ManagerZone Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduardo Oliveira to maneuver through the defense. The C.F. Minas Gerais supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing C.F. Minas Gerais would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
