An unexpectedly hard shot by Telmo Sanches in the 13th minute of play forced Desportivo's goalkeeper Kaká Furlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Desportivo's goalkeeper Kaká Furlan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Vitório Ceresso put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Kaká Furlan. In the 42nd match minute, Desportivo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hermínio do Vale to maneuver through the defense. Kaká Furlan was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Waldemar Furtado. After 44 minutes, Váldson Diniz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Itapiru and the Desportivo players grew even worse after the yellow card. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kauan Dracena stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Telmo Sanches fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kaká Furlan having to interfere. In the 98th minute, Eriberto Quirino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee ended the match the Itapiru players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
