If Carlos Passos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maracaibo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ricardo Bertassi in the 40th minute. The corner ended in Ricardo Bertassi almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but ARSENAL FC's Silas Gomes did a great save. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ian Sergipano to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Eliseu Pitta had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Silas Gomes. ARSENAL FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eliseu Pitta was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. 55 minutes into the match, ARSENAL FC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Passos came free, but Silas Gomes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Maracaibo's Dieguinho Tinoco proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Maracaibo from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Carlos Passos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Maracaibo's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Passos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silas Gomes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vinícius Mendonça charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vinícius Mendonça the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ricardinho Neto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Dieguinho Tinoco made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ricardinho Neto got free with Dieguinho Tinoco in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Silas Gomes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabiano Sousa, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Maracaibo's Fabiano Sousa got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Christiano Lara got his second yellow card in the match during the 76th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After a rather tough play, ARSENAL FC's Christiano Lara got a free kick in the 77th minute. If Carlos Passos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabiano Sousa in the 82nd minute of play forced ARSENAL FC's goalkeeper Silas Gomes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th minute, Carlos Passos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 95 minutes into the match, ARSENAL FC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Passos came free, but Silas Gomes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Maracaibo had played much better football throughout.
