Kauã Teixeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 27 played minutes, MANCHESTER JOHNS F.C.'s Elder Mendes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dieguinho Tinoco came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in MANCHESTER JOHNS F.C. reached it. Kauã Teixeira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Passos, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Kauã Teixeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Passos in the 34th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Maracaibo's zone, Murillo Fonseca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. When Narciso Quintal came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the MANCHESTER JOHNS F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Narciso Quintal couldn't finish the play. Murillo Fonseca took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dieguinho Tinoco. Dieguinho Tinoco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Kauã Teixeira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Passos, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. If Narciso Quintal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half MANCHESTER JOHNS F.C. were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carlos Passos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabiano Sousa in the 57th minute of play forced MANCHESTER JOHNS F.C.'s goalkeeper Kauã Teixeira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
