Foz do Iguaçu FC's Henrique Furtado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diguinho Ferreira in the 20th minute of play. If Maurinho Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Diguinho Ferreira fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Avante's protests and gave Diguinho Ferreira a yellow card for diving instead. Diguinho Ferreira kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Fernando Quadros succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 39th playminute. Válter Guedes was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Sydney Cunha showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 45 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Diguinho Ferreira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Frederico Diniz hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Válter Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sydney Cunha, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. In the 54thth minute of the game Sydney Cunha who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Avante's Válter Guedes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Avante's Frederico Diniz got a free kick in the 83rd minute. In the 84th minute, Oscar Rosa sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Avante's Válter Guedes didn't even have to move. The supporters of Foz do Iguaçu FC booed when Avante was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frederico Diniz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Válter Guedes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernando Quadros in the 91st minute of play. Claudinei Meirelles's late challenge caught a Foz do Iguaçu FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claudinei Meirelles helped the player get up and apologised. Foz do Iguaçu FC's Oscar Rosa couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Avante. Fernando Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Válter Guedes having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Foz do Iguaçu FC fully deserved thier win.
