The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dênis Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus do Vale in the 3rd minute of play. If Michel Salgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 12 minutes, Marcus do Vale mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Itupiranga and the Truffa SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Marcus do Vale kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Dênis Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus do Vale in the 15th minute of play. Itupiranga's Fernandinho Carvalho managed to work through Truffa SC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Fernandinho Carvalho dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Marcus do Vale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Dênis Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 23 minutes, Fernandinho Carvalho made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Truffa SC's Dênis Fonseca tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Marcus do Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itupiranga's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcus do Vale was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dênis Fonseca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dênis Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernandinho Carvalho in the 29th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Truffa SC's zone, Marcus do Vale stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dênis Fonseca came out of the goal and Marcus do Vale tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcus do Vale in the 32nd minute of play forced Truffa SC's goalkeeper Dênis Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute Marcus do Vale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dênis Fonseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dênis Fonseca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michel Salgado in the 47th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marco de Medeiros was the one to do the kick off. José Carlos Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dênis Fonseca having to interfere. In the 57th minute Marcus do Vale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dênis Fonseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 61 minutes, Pedrinho Secco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Itupiranga and the Truffa SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Itupiranga getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Pedrinho Secco hit a great ball. Marcus do Vale received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dênis Fonseca came out and tried to block the shot, but Marcus do Vale slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 65th minute. 79 minutes into the match, Truffa SC's goal looked a bit too open when Marcus do Vale came free, but Dênis Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Itupiranga fans' excitement grew in the 82nd match minute when Itupiranga's Marcus do Vale looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Truffa SC's Dênis Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcus do Vale in the 86th minute of play. Dênis Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michel Salgado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Fernandinho Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Itupiranga eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
