Spectators: 5147 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 147) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Fernandinho Carvalho made the kick off which started today's match. In the 7th minute, Itupiranga's Marcus do Vale ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Válter Guedes. Válter Guedes yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Válter Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcus do Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Fernandinho Carvalho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Fernandinho Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Itupiranga's José Carlos Gomes got a free kick in the 20th minute. After having played for 23 minutes, Marcus do Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itupiranga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcus do Vale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Fernandinho Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Marcus do Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Frederico Diniz during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Válter Guedes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcus do Vale in the 28th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the game, Marcus do Vale cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Válter Guedes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some careless play in the Avante defense, Fernandinho Carvalho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Válter Guedes. The Avante fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Válter Guedes should have stopped the shot. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Diguinho Ferreira was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Marcus do Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itupiranga's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcus do Vale was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Válter Guedes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 53 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Avante! The referee felt a red card was in order, 59 minutes into the game, when José Maria Barbosa put in a rough tackle. The referee gave Avante a penalty, 60 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Wellington Simões, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Itupiranga's Valdo Abraão. 5-2. In the 64thth minute of the game Marcus do Vale who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Avante's Válter Guedes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Marcus do Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Avante's zone, Marcus do Vale stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Válter Guedes came out of the goal and Marcus do Vale tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marcus do Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Válter Guedes having to interfere. 77 minutes into the match, Itupiranga's Marcus do Vale sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Válter Guedes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Itupiranga's José Carlos Gomes got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 82 played minutes, Itupiranga's Duarte Recife shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Válter Guedes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Itupiranga reached it. After 84 minutes, Marcus do Vale made it 6-2 with a short kick to the right side. Avante's Válter Guedes tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When José Carlos Gomes came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Itupiranga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Carlos Gomes couldn't finish the play. Válter Guedes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus do Vale in the 93rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Michel Salgado in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Válter Guedes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marcus do Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Itupiranga fully deserved thier win.
