Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Pedrão Varela started the match with the kick off. Carlos Alberto Arruda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tiaguinho Moreno recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. In the 9th minute, Eduardo Toscano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pedrão Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Emílio Couto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 19th minute Pedrão Varela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emílio Couto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emílio Couto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedrão Varela in the 20th minute of the match. In the 31st minute, Pedrão Varela ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Emílio Couto was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Emílio Couto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedrão Varela in the 38th minute of play. When Doni Prata came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Arto do Pasto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Doni Prata couldn't finish the play. Emílio Couto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedrão Varela in the 46th minute of play. Pedrão Varela fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emílio Couto having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlos Alberto Arruda to make the kick off. Tiaguinho Moreno succeeded in the game's 55th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-1. After having played for 58 minutes, Pedrão Varela managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arto do Pasto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedrão Varela was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pedrão Varela was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 61st minute. Arto do Pasto's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After 65 played minutes PORTUGUESA DO MORRO got a freekick which was hit by Vágner Soares. Doni Prata sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in PORTUGUESA DO MORRO's zone, Pedrão Varela stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emílio Couto came out of the goal and Pedrão Varela tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pedrão Varela fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emílio Couto having to interfere. If Pedrão Varela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Alberto Arruda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tiaguinho Moreno in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Francisco Lopes saved Arto do Pasto from getting behind. Arto do Pasto's Francisco Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiaguinho Moreno in the 78th minute of play. Emílio Couto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedrão Varela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Doni Prata got free with Emílio Couto in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The PORTUGUESA DO MORRO players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
