An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Messias in the 9th minute of play forced Tropa de Exploração's goalkeeper Claudinho Vianna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hílton Pimenta charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hílton Pimenta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 13 played minutes, Palmeiras's Arnaldo Messias shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Claudinho Vianna came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Palmeiras reached it. After 13 minutes, Sidney Paiva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tropa de Exploração and the Palmeiras players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Palmeiras booed when Tropa de Exploração was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidney Paiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. 15 minutes into the match, Tropa de Exploração's goal looked a bit too open when Aloísio Oliveira came free, but Claudinho Vianna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 26 played minutes Palmeiras got a freekick which was hit by Aloísio Oliveira. Claudinho Vianna made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Isaltino Neves sent off a good shot on target. In the 31st minute, Palmeiras's Luiz Fernando Fernandez ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Claudinho Vianna. Claudinho Vianna yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Claudinho Vianna made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Isaltino Neves sent off a good shot on target. Tropa de Exploração's Claudinho Vianna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aloísio Oliveira in the 43rd minute of play. Claudinho Vianna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aloísio Oliveira, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Maurício Marquez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Augusto Vianna in the 53rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Messias in the 60th minute of play forced Tropa de Exploração's goalkeeper Claudinho Vianna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 61 minutes of play, Palmeiras's Isaltino Neves made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Claudinho Vianna was left in no man's land by his defense there! Claudinho Vianna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Messias in the 71st minute of play. Hílton Pimenta was shown his second yellow card after 74 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 75th minute, Hílton Pimenta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 77th minute Isaltino Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudinho Vianna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
