Paulão Favoretto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Clube de Regatas MEC. In the 12th minute, Manuel Sarmento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Manuel Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 17 minutes into the match, Clube de Regatas MEC's Oscar Torres sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paulão Favoretto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Paulão Favoretto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manuel Sarmento's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. The audience was convinced that Oscar Torres's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paulão Favoretto was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Manuel Sarmento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Clube de Regatas MEC's supporters rose to their feet, but Manuel Sarmento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oséas Pinheiro ran back to his position shaking his head. 39 minutes into the match, DIABLOS RS F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Sarmento came free, but Paulão Favoretto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Manuel Sarmento came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Clube de Regatas MEC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manuel Sarmento couldn't finish the play. Paulão Favoretto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar Torres in the 42nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Clube de Regatas MEC's zone, Oséas Pinheiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charles Mattos came out of the goal and Oséas Pinheiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Oséas Pinheiro to make the kick off. In the 54th minute DIABLOS RS F.C. were awarded a corner. Anderson Salgado went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Anderson Salgado almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Clube de Regatas MEC's Charles Mattos did a great save. Clóvis Peres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 59 minutes into the match, Clube de Regatas MEC's goal looked a bit too open when Oséas Pinheiro came free, but Charles Mattos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Clube de Regatas MEC's Augusto Moura got a free kick in the 60th minute. Manuel Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Décio Félix's late challenge caught a Clube de Regatas MEC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. DIABLOS RS F.C.'s Paulão Favoretto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save DIABLOS RS F.C. from getting a goal against them. Manuel Sarmento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulão Favoretto having to interfere. The supporters of Clube de Regatas MEC booed when DIABLOS RS F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doriva Custódio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Manuel Sarmento's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 70thth minute, Paulão Favoretto skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Torres in the 72nd minute of play forced DIABLOS RS F.C.'s goalkeeper Paulão Favoretto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paulão Favoretto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oscar Torres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 77th minute, Gordon Banks hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 79 minutes into the game, Oséas Pinheiro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Charles Mattos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 83rd minute, Clube de Regatas MEC's Oscar Torres ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Paulão Favoretto. Paulão Favoretto yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Paulão Favoretto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar Torres in the 92nd minute of play. Manuel Sarmento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Paulão Favoretto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Clube de Regatas MEC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
